About the role

Schick Civil Construction is seeking an experienced Drainage Team Leader (Foreman) to join our team in Christchurch, Canterbury. In this full-time permanent role, you will oversee the daily operations of our drainage crew, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

What you'll be doing

  1. Supervise and coordinate the work of the drainage crew, including task allocation, progress monitoring, and performance management
  2. Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of any issues
  3. Develop and implement work plans, schedules, and procedures to optimise productivity and efficiency
  4. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations
  5. Provide technical guidance and support to the drainage crew, including training and mentoring
  6. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to project progress, timesheets, and material usage
  7. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the continuous development of the drainage team

What we're looking for

  1. Significant experience (5+ years) in a drainage or civil construction supervisory role
  2. Strong technical knowledge of drainage systems, pipework, and associated construction techniques
  3. Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  4. Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and stakeholders
  6. Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications
  7. A relevant trade qualification or certificate in civil construction or a related field
  8. A valid driver's licence and the ability to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions
