Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Operations Oversight: Coordinate front-of-house (dining room, bar) and back-of-house (kitchen) activities to ensure a seamless flow of service. This includes opening and closing procedures, and general maintenance and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, hire, train, manage, and motivate staff (waitstaff, hosts, kitchen staff). This also involves organizing schedules and shifts, appraising performance, addressing personnel issues, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Customer Service & Relations: Ensure superior guest experiences and maximize satisfaction. This includes greeting customers, organizing reservations, managing complaints promptly and professionally, and soliciting feedback to improve service.
  • Financial Management: Analyze sales levels and profitability, set budgets, control operational costs (food and labor), manage payroll, and handle cash.
  • Inventory & Supplier Management: Monitor stock levels, order food, beverages, and supplies, work with vendors to ensure quality and pricing, and minimize waste.
  • Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, food hygiene, and licensing laws and regulations.
  • Marketing & Business Development: Plan and coordinate menus (often with the head chef), organize promotional events, and develop strategies to attract new customers and drive sales.

  • Leadership and Communication: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with a diverse team and customers.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to think quickly, stay calm under pressure, and resolve unexpected issues or conflicts efficiently.
  • Organizational & Time Management: Excellent planning, multitasking, and organizational skills to manage many disparate tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Business Acumen: A solid understanding of financial management, cost control, and business operations to drive profitability.
  • Customer Focus: A commitment to providing excellent customer service and building positive relationships with patrons.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: A hands-on approach and the ability to adapt to changing situations, often working irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
