While home base is in Elaine Bay these roles will be based out of Port Tarakohe in Golden Bay onboard the newly launched vessel "Tai Ata"

About the Role

This is no ordinary 9-5 job. When our mussel vessels are at sea it is all hands-on deck, for the four days on and four days off working rotation. You will need to be physically fit.

Reporting to the Skipper you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the smooth running of the marine farming processes. Tasks include:

  • Float tying
  • Harvesting
  • Seeding
  • Line maintenance
  • Loading and unloading of the vessel
  • Setting up of marine farming gear
  • Cleaning down and general duties around the vessel.

Performing all these tasks under safe operating procedures will see you enjoy your time at sea. Travel and overnight allowances with a competitive hourly rate support a great work life balance and earning potential. We are looking to fill up to four positions

Aquaculture, marine farming and or vessel operational knowledge would be an advantage, however full training will be provided.

Rarely does an opportunity like this present itself. Working at sea, in a physically challenging role. Where you can work less than half the year for a full income, the ideal work-life balance as part of a family-owned organisation.

You must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and Waimana Marine operates a random drug and alcohol testing program. This role requires you to have the right to work in New Zealand and have a full driver's license.
