Community Fundraising Specialist

Our story
KidsCan is a passionate not-for-profit organisation dedicated to creating positive change for children across Aotearoa. With 1 in 6 children living in poverty, we ensure they have access to essentials like nutritious food, warm jackets, and sturdy shoes—empowering them to fully participate in school and early childhood education, and helping them reach their full potential.
How you'll make a difference
As our Community Fundraising Specialist, you'll help bring our mission to life by engaging individuals, schools, and community groups to support children in need. You'll help coordinate community fundraising initiatives, keep supporters informed and inspired, and ensure every fundraiser feels connected and appreciated. You'll also keep the engine room running smoothly — managing admin, financial reconciliations, CRM updates, and performance reporting — while supporting the wider team to achieve fundraising targets.
Day to day, your duties may include:
- Supporting the rollout of fundraising strategies and work with internal teams to hit key targets.
- Keeping fundraising admin sharp, including accurate records and monthly reconciliations.
- Helping deliver peer-to-peer campaigns and events that grow engagement and impact.
- Building strong relationships with supporters and provide guidance throughout their fundraising journey.
- Representing KidsCan at community events to champion our mahi.
- Tracking performance, budgets, and expenditure to keep activities on course.
- Maintaining accurate CRM records (e.g. Raiser's Edge).
What you'll bring
You'll have experience in fundraising, events, marketing, or relationship management, and you're a natural communicator who builds strong relationships. Organised and detail-focused, you can juggle multiple tasks. You're creative, proactive, and confident using Microsoft Office and CRMs. You're comfortable with budgets, happy to pitch in for the occasional evening event, and driven by a genuine passion for helping children in need.
Why you'll love working here
- You'll be part of a mission that truly matters — helping Kiwi kids thrive.
- We have fabulous benefits, including the 'hour of power' (time for exercise), day off on your birthday and pawternity leave
- Be part of a supportive, energetic organisation where you can make a difference every day.
Ready to take the next step?
If you're inspired by the chance to create real, lasting change for children across Aotearoa, we want to hear from you. Show us your passion and experience—send your CV and a cover letter telling us why you're the perfect fit for this role.
