Overview

Bison is a New Zealand-based manufacturer of heavy-duty container lifting, weighing, and mobility equipment, exporting globally. Our products are engineered, built, and tested in-house, and we are looking for an experienced fitter & turner (or similar) to join our production team.

This role suits a practical mechanical tradesperson who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in workmanship, and is comfortable moving between machining and assembly tasks.

The Role

As an Assembly Technician, you will be involved in assembling and fabricating mechanical equipment to a high standard of quality and safety. The role includes:

  • Assembling mechanical products and sub-assemblies to drawings and work instructions
  • Carrying out machining tasks, including manual lathe work
  • Mechanical fitting, fabrication, and metalwork as required
  • Proof and functional testing of finished products
  • Supporting continuous improvement of products and production processes
  • Working collaboratively with the wider production team to meet build schedules
What We're Looking For
  • Trade-qualified mechanical engineer, fitter/turner, toolmaker, or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on machining experience, including manual lathe operation
  • Experience working from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Commitment to safe work practices and quality workmanship
  • Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
