About Us

Alton Drilling is a Kiwi owned and operated company with over 40 years' experience. Alton's main drilling focus is mineral exploration in locations around New Zealand.

About the role:

This role is responsible for providing maintenance, repairing a variety of drilling machinery, heavy and light vehicles. This role is also required to assemble and fit components for machinery/vehicles using blueprints/plans to help measure materials for production and monitor machinery/vehicles and repairs faults, while working as part of the workshop team to achieve targets for best work quality, safety and to meet operational goals.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Planned/unplanned maintenance and diagnostics of machinery and vehicles.
  • Maintaining all relevant records from all inspections, servicing and repairs.
  • Ensuring all targets are met whilst maintaining a high standard of quality.

To be successful in this role you must hold the following attributes and qualities:

  • NZQA Level IV trade qualification in Diesel or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Full NZ Drivers Licence
  • Experience working on Drilling Rigs would be advantageous
  • Strong Health & Safety commitment
  • Excellent decision making and problem solving
  • Effective communication skills
  • A good understanding of hydraulics and hydraulic diagnostics
  • Basic auto electrical skills
  • Fabrication and Welding experience would be advantageous
