At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**
The Literacy & Communication and Maths Strategy team, within Strategy & Integration, is focused on supporting the teaching and learning of literacy and communication and maths across early learning and schooling. To achieve this the Literacy & Communication and Maths Strategy and accompanying Action Plans provide the direction and specific actions that will continue to be implemented and fully embedded by June 2027 to make system wide shifts.
The Lead Adviser is responsible for developing high quality curriculum services and advice for Ministers in conjunction with other curriculum staff and managers. They will need to understand and synthesize information from various sources and develop this advice, at times, within tight timeframes. They also lead and contribute to the development of substantial and/or complex initiatives to support progress and achievement for all students.

**Mōhou ake | About you**
We are looking for sharp thinkers with a flair for writing to help the Ministry's curriculum teams provide high quality advice across a range of initiatives. This role would suit someone who cares about inclusive and equitable teaching and learning and can bring their background experience and skills to provide high quality services and advice to ministers to for the work of our curriculum teams.
Your personal qualities will include taking pride in producing written work and other forms of communication of the highest quality every time and having a proven ability to get the job done. You will be able to work at pace and manage set tasks and projects, but you also will notice pressure points, take the initiative, and act. In this role you will be expected to have the kind of interpersonal savviness that means you relate well with all kinds of people.
Understanding of the education system, including New Zealand Curriculum, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and Te Whāriki, is desirable.
