The People Portfolio sits within the People and Capability (P&C) Business Group and exists to plan, connect and align work activity to deliver the organisation's people priorities. This work provides our Ara Poutama Aotearoa kaimahi opportunities to realise their full potential which provides better outcomes for people we manage and their whānau.

The Senior Portfolio Advisor is responsible for providing timely accurate advice, monitoring, reporting, and fulfilling audit requirements applicable for large, multi-year people and capability projects for the People Portfolio Management Office (PMO). They are the trusted senior advisor to both the Portfolio Manager and the People Portfolio Delivery Manager on all matter's portfolio related.

The role accountabilities include:

- Project manage the Independent Quality Assurance projects commissioned within the Portfolio on behalf of the People Portfolio Director
- Provide assurance to the Portfolio Manager on progress in relation to project delivery against milestones and escalates to the Portfolio Manager when risks and issues are identified and need immediate resolution
- Manage positive and collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders, including Delivery Team, PMOs, Project/Programme teams, Finance team and EPMO and external stakeholders, including the People Portfolio Governance Committee
- Represents the People Portfolio PMO at Investment Tailoring Sessions and provides strategic advice on upcoming initiatives
- Manage OIA and Select Committee Questions (or similar) from the Ministerial team on behalf of the Business Management Team in short timeframes
- Leads to the development and delivery of a framework for auditing projects under the umbrella of the People Portfolio PMO (in collaboration with the EPMO)
- Responsible for the preparation and delivery of accurate dashboards and reports for the People Portfolio PMO
- Supports the Project Managers and Business case writers by providing support and assistance with the writing of business cases and investment documentation.
- Prepare high quality presentations and reports for internal governance committee groups
- Provides insights for the People Portfolio PMO central repository of project benefits, project financials, portfolio risks and escalates to the Portfolio Manager when required
- Identifies and informs stakeholders of their requirements to utilise the departments reporting tools (including online) and trains new users
- Advise and support Delivery Managers and Project/Programme Managers on the use of frameworks, methodologies and tools for assessing and managing project risks
- Positively contributes to and supports the People Portfolio Directorate team to value inclusion and diversity, lead and champion safety and wellbeing, and ensuring own professional development to build and maintain a high performing team.

**Utu ā-tau | Salary**

The mid-point of the salary range is $113,596 and the full range (85%-120%) is $96,557 - $136,316. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.

**Ngā pūkenga e kimi ana mātou | Skills we look for**
- Practical experience working within large scale, multi-year projects/programmes with at least two years' experience
- An in-depth understanding of the principles, frameworks and processes of successful project management having worked in the discipline for at least two years
- Proven experience in providing service to internal stakeholders to achieve effective and timely reporting and monitoring
- Demonstrated capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgement, assertiveness
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills with the ability to conduct presentations comfortably to groups if required
- Excellent skills and experience using MS Excel, MS Project and MS Office toolset and other applicable reporting tools
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to effectively engage with stakeholders and governance groups to identify issues and seek resolution so that decision documents are robust and complete
- Advanced analytical skills with experience interpretating project data
- An understanding of the New Zealand Governments Investment Covidence Rating (ICR) framework
