Our Portfolio Management team is the one stop shop for all things related to delivering and governing change at MBIE. We support all of MBIE to effectively lead projects, establish standards, lift capability and provide a community of best practice with the focus being on:

- Oversight of approved projects including allocation of resourcing and oversight of stakeholder engagement frameworks, project performance, project and portfolio reporting, pipeline planning, risk and issue management.
- Improvement focus including project management standards and practices, development of project management capability, risk, issue, benefits tracking and dependency management and undertaking post project reviews with a view to continuous improvement.

Our Senior Governance Advisor provides governance advice and secretariat support to MBIE’s delivery governance system. The Senior Governance Advisor is a trusted advisor to the Chairs of the Committees. They undertake an important and largely autonomous advisory role, working with Chairs and the Leadership Team to support their effective stewardship of MBIE’s project delivery portfolio.

**Tēnei tūranga - About the role**:
Working alongside the PMO Manager, the Senior Governance Advisor is an integral role responsible for:

- Developing, planning and managing the forward agenda planning, agendas, schedule of actions and information requests, minutes of meetings, and all information management processes for the Ministry’s delivery governance meetings/ committees
- Assessing material going to MBIE governance committees and provide feedback to authors/sponsors as necessary to ensure fit for purpose advice is presented
- Supporting the ongoing development and refinement of policies and systems to provide clarity on the MBIE delivery governance system, the actions and the responses, providing transparency of decision-making
- Providing input to regular reviews of the governance system and identify any areas for improvement
- Finalising, distributing and following up on delivery governance committees’ minutes and action items as required
- Supporting the team as a centre of expertise for lifting the overall governance system of MBIE
- Supporting the development of innovative, practical, effective and durable governance support options that will help to achieve the desired outcomes.

- Sound understanding of governance concepts and practices
- Sound understanding of government processes and public sector management practices
- Excellent communications (verbal and written) skills
- Ability to influence and gain acceptance of others
- Ability to think and act strategically in order to work successfully across the System of Governance not just in Committees
- Organisational political savvy with the ability to work with ease in the internal political environment
- Demonstrated ability in organising workflow and determining priorities
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to analyse information and display sound judgement
- High level of computer literacy
- Demonstrated understanding of information management, including the facilitation, quality assurance and distribution of documents
- Capable of influencing and persuading others to accept a view or action that promotes organisational success
- Experience taking minutes
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or comparable relevant experience
- Confident and articulate verbal presentation skills
- A very high standard of written English
