This position is an integral part of the engineering team, responsible for background research, scoping, design, and drafting for a wide range of land development projects. It requires a strong foundation in detailed design, project documentation, and technical skills to ensure projects meet functional and technical requirements while adhering to regulatory standards and budget constraints.

The role involves working on infrastructure development, transportation, and environmental engineering projects. Responsibilities include engaging in all phases of project delivery, from concept development and feasibility studies to detailed design and construction oversight. Collaboration with architects, project managers, and other disciplines is essential to produce high-quality drawings and as-builts.

**Key Responsibilities**

Civil Design
- Conduct background research, including GIS information and boundary data.
- Assist with drafting and delivery of land development, civil, structural, and survey projects.
- Develop detailed drawings and specifications for civil engineering and land development projects, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes in time, cost, and quality.
- Support the Project Lead in scoping, organizing, and monitoring project progress while identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Maintain drawing registers and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Manage interactions with external service providers to ensure timely approvals and information exchange.
- Assist with project management, including regular reporting on progress, costs, issues, and expected completion dates.
- Assist with contract documentation preparation.
- Perform construction observations and inspections to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Assist with or progress to acting as the Engineer’s Representative under NZS3910 contracts.
- Conduct completion inspections, including with external authorities.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing, mentoring, and professional development within the team.

Relationship Management
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Build and expand professional connections through networking.
- Foster and maintain positive stakeholder relationships.

Health & Safety
- Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and guidelines within Envelope.
- Champion a safe workplace, ensuring compliance with health & safety laws.
- Manage personal wellness and engage in wellness initiatives.

**What You'll Bring**
- Proven experience in NZ-based civil drafting and design.
- 2+ years of experience in land development projects.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and project management tools.
- Familiarity with industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of civil design principles, methods, and materials.
- Ability to analyse engineering challenges and develop effective solutions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptability and ability to manage change.
- NZ residency preferred.
