**About the role | Ko te mahi nei**

Our Legal Services team is proud to play a pivotal role in working to make Ōtautahi Christchurch a vibrant, prosperous, and sustainable city. We need an Associate Legal Counsel who is a driven, energetic, and a practical legal professional.

You are a commercial lawyer (5 years PQE +) who will be undertaking general commercial work including:

- Drafting, negotiating and advising on:

- non-disclosure agreements
- deeds of assignment, novation, renewal and variation
- community loan agreements
- supplier agreements
- terms of trade
- partnership agreements
- digital/IT focussed agreements
- Council specific bespoke agreements (utilising templates etc)
- Council Controlled Organisations
- Tendering & procurement advice and opinion work
- Review and advice in relation to RFX documents
- Intellectual property advice, disputes and opinion work including copyright, commissioning agreements, cease and desist letters and trademark portfolio work

**About you | Ko Koe Tēnei**

You will have the ability to deliver technically robust legal advice and deploy great stakeholder legal skills to assist Council in achieving its strategic and tactical goals and objectives. You will work independently as well as to support senior members of the Legal Services Team.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of a busy in-house legal team and at the same time, make a difference to the community. This is a role that you will be able to shape and profile yourself within the organisation.

For those in private practice looking to enter the public sector it will mean working across Council with our large service units (Parks, Recreation/Sports/Events, Three Waters, Transport, Digital, Procurement) regularised hours, and the end of timesheets and monthly budgets.
