Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
This is a Senior role at Toitū Te Whenua - Land Information New Zealand.
As an experienced Health and Safety practitioner, you will work closely with your colleagues in the Health and Safety team, lending your knowledge and experience to collaborate, lead and support our work to continue to build the health and safety capability of Toitu Te Whenua. You will engage and implement different health and safety policies and procedures by partnering with different businesses and team across Linz.
You will lead specific pieces of work and projects supported by other team members and similarly be expected to support team members with their project and development tasks. Project work focuses on continuous improvement of our health, safety and wellbeing performance as well as supporting our various and diverse business units to carry out their work safely, and deliver work that is of national importance.
You will enjoy translating technical information into plain English for your non-technical audiences and will take the initiative to ensure that your messaging is clear and appealing. You will draw on your working knowledge of New Zealand Health and Safety legislation in order to identify opportunities for development, and to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
This an exciting opportunity where you will get to build your understanding and connections of the diverse work that is performed across our organisation. You will be able to enable and support stakeholders to identify hazards, whilst using our H&S information management system to register, manage and review the associated risks. The advice and support you provide will help achieve our goal of continuing to develop a culture where health and safety is embedded and owned by every individual working within LINZ.

- Genuine passion for H&S best practice
- Develop and lead best H&S practice.
- Relevant tertiary qualification or relevant experience
- Working knowledge of New Zealand H&S legislation
- Strong communication skills
- A natural ability to build effective and trusted relationships
- Demonstrate an understanding of the contract environment.
