**Health, Safety & Environment Manager**
**Te Tūranga - The Role**
Are you passionate about creating safer, healthier, and more sustainable workplaces? We're looking for an experienced **Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager** to champion a proactive safety culture and drive the ongoing development of HSE systems, practices, and policies across Tait Communications.
Based at our Christchurch HQ, you will play a critical role in shaping and embedding a high-performance health, safety, and environmental culture. You will work closely with internal stakeholders at all levels, our global H&S team, and external partners to ensure Tait is a safe and compliant workplace - today and into the future.
**The duties of the role will include**:
- Leading the development and implementation of Tait's global health, safety, and environment strategy
- Promoting and embedding a strong, people-first HSE culture across all teams and business units
- Enhancing and maintaining robust HSE systems, ensuring alignment with local legislation and international standards (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001)
- Leading audits, investigations, and risk assessments to proactively manage safety and environmental risks
- Facilitating engaging HSE training and capability-building programmes
- Managing environmental compliance for product design and manufacturing, including lifecycle assessments and sustainability initiatives
- Reporting on HSE performance and ensuring continuous improvement
- Supporting the ACC Accredited Employer Programme and contractor onboarding processes
- Leading and mentoring a Health & Safety Advisor
**Ō pūkenga - About You**
To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a similar discipline, and extensive experience in HSE leadership roles.
You will also bring:
- 10+ years' experience in HSE roles, with a proven ability to design and implement company-wide strategies
- ICAM certification (required); Lead Auditor training in ISO45001:2018 (preferred)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills - you're confident influencing from the floor to the boardroom
- Familiarity with enterprise-level safety management software and frameworks
- A strategic mindset with a practical, solutions-oriented approach
- Experience in technology, telecommunications, or public safety sectors is a bonus
- Capability in adult learning and assessment is a plus
