**About the Role**

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Allied Health Practitioner to be part of leading the Allied Health response to organisational aims of achieving shorter stays for our patients in ED. The role will play a pivotal role in identifying referrals, coordinating care, and expediting responses from Allied Health teams, for patients based in ED. Where patients are able to be discharged home you will play a pivotal role in coordinating the Allied Health response, and/or providing clinical care through a skill sharing framework. For our admitted patients you will be key in identifying the Allied Health need early, and liaising with inpatient teams to support provision of the right care at the right time.

You will play a central role in ensuring our referral patterns are accurate and capturing data to measure the unmet need for Allied Health in ED, in order to inform our thinking around the makeup of Allied Health teams in ED moving forward.

**About the Team/Service/Location**

Our team of Allied Health practitioners work across the ED and MAPU spaces, with a full time pharmacist working in ED, and physio and social work working across both ED and MAPU. Other Allied Health presence is via an in-reach model, and you will support these teams to prioritise and respond to referrals from ED where required.

This role will sit as part of the wider Allied Health service and will maintain close connections with teams across the continuum of care, including our community, AWHI, outpatients, and inpatient Allied Health teams. Within the ED you will work closely with nursing and medical colleagues to raise the profile of Allied Health and coordinate the Allied response as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.

**About you**

You will:

- Be an energetic, enthusiastic Allied Health Practitioner with a current Annual Practising Certificate and experience working in either the acute inpatient setting or the community, ready for an opportunity to lead our Allied response to shorter stays in ED targets.
- Be comfortable working at pace to identify and manage risk, and have a proven ability to build relationships across a wide range of clinical partners and teams.
- Have a sound understanding of health equity and the role Allied Health practitioners can play in achieving this for our communities.
- Have a - birds-eye view - of the Allied Health ecosystem to coordinate care from the right service at the right time, to enable best practice for our patients and whānau.
