Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We - re looking for an enthusiastic person who is able to motivate others and provide top notch Allied Health support. A day in the life of a casual Allied Health Assistant can be different every day.
The person in this role will be taking on activities delegated by Allied Health Professionals including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Speech Language Therapists and Dietitians. We ensure that our casual team members cover clinical areas that match their skills.
Under delegation, you - ll be working with patients in the hospital setting, outpatients and, at times, in the patients home. The aim is to help the person prepare for discharge from hospital after an admission. You will provide support to Allied Health Professionals to carry out delegated tasks such as screening notes, acting as a second pair of hands for patient transfers, practising mobility or activities of daily living with patients, issuing equipment, facilitating group classes as well as being responsible for some administration tasks.
The successful applicant will have a busy and varied day, working across a range of professions and with a variety of people. This position is in friendly and supportive teams. If you are hardworking, reliable, able to multi-task and are keen to learn, it may be the role for you.

As an Allied Health Assistant you will be part of the Allied Health Whanau which includes Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Social workers, Dieticians and Speech Language therapists. You will work in a team of Allied Health Assistants providing services to patients admitted to Wellington Hospital. There may also be opportunities to work with the in-patient team at Kenepuru Hospital.
Moū - About you
The person we are looking for will have the following skills attributes and experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably within a hospital setting
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Good organisational skills and able to work alone with patients under delegation
- Team working
- Honesty and reliability
- Full Driver - s license
- Holder of National Certificate in Community Support (level 3) Core Competencies or National Certificate in Health, Disability and Aged Support (level 3) (Health Assistants - Rehabilitation Assistance or Health Assistance strand) or equivalent (or willingness to complete one of these qualifications)E pā ana ki a ta - tou - About us
