**Contract**: Fixed Term, Part-time (30 hours / 0.75FTE over 5 days ' hours negotiable to cover Parental Leave)

**Salary**: $51,820 ' $62,154 depending on experience / qualifications

We are looking for an Allied Health Assistant to join our team. The role is based on our acute wards (including orthopaedic, surgical and medical) at Wellington Hospital.
The person in this role will be taking on activities delegated by Allied Health Professionals including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Speech Language Therapists and Dietitians.
Under delegation, you'll be working with patients in the hospital setting, outpatients and, at times, in the patients home. In the ward setting, you will support patients in their recovery to get back to daily activities and routines. You will provide support to Allied Health Professionals to carry out delegated tasks such as screening notes, acting as a second pair of hands for patient transfers, practicing daily living tasks with patients, issuing equipment, facilitating group classes as well as being responsible for some administration tasks.

As an Allied Health Assistant you will be part of the Allied Health Whanau which includes Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Social workers, Dieticians and Speech Language therapists. You will work in a team of 5 Allied Health Assistants providing services to patients admitted to Wellington Hospital.

The person we are looking for will have the following skills attributes and experience
Knowledge and Experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably within a hospital setting
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Good organisational skills
- Able to work alone with patients under delegation
- Team working
- Honesty and reliabilityProfessional Qualifications
- Holder of National Certificate in Community Support (level 3) Core Competencies or National Certificate in Health, Disability and Aged Support (level 3) (Health Assistants ' Rehabilitation Assistance or Health Assistance strand) or equivalent (or willingness to complete one of these qualifications)

Other
- Good level of physical fitness
- Full Driver's license
- Proficient with computers
