The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our National Quarantine Capability (NQC) team which sits in the National Public Health Service (NPHS). NQC is responsible for providing quarantine and isolation capability in Aotearoa in the event of future outbreaks, epidemics or pandemics.

The Senior Advisor, Readiness and Continuous Improvement plays a critical role in helping to shape NQC's business performance and readiness, through the provision of advice across emergency management, operational processes and leading a programme of continuous improvement activities.

**Mōu | About you**

You enjoy working as part of a high performing team and have a continuous improvement focus. You are able to identify trends from multiple quantitative and qualitative data sources, and relate these to business planning, performance frameworks and continuous improvement. You have maturity, political nous, sound judgement, flexibility, and a sense of teamwork. You are comfortable in a demanding and sometimes ambiguous work environment and can deliver urgent problem resolution.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in a senior advisory role in a complex environment
- Demonstrated sound understanding of internal government processes as well as keeping abreast of strategy and operations to provide the right level of information and advice to maintain credibility of the portfolio
- Strong conceptual thinker and problem solver, demonstrating innovation and excellent judgement
- Able to balance strategic imperatives with operational realities
- Clear, concise, communicator with particular strengths in writing, including but not limited to; leadership papers, memos, project documentation and reports
- Familiarity with the CIMS framework and public sector Emergency Management
