If you can answer yes to these questions, then it sounds like you could be our new Partnership Director. Sitting in our Local Government Policy, Partnerships and Operations Group, our team of Partnership Directors are on the front line at the interface of central and local government. We have an ambitious and demanding local government work programme with never a dull moment. As a Partnership Director you will have a key leadership and relationship management role delivering the programme, able to open doors and influence executive management and governors.

**Mo te tima | About our Team**

Our team of four Partnership Directors support and deliver the local government work programme within the Department's Policy and Te Tiriti Branch. The work programme is broadly spread across two groups, the Water Services Programme and Local Government Policy, Partnerships and Operations. Collectively we advise the Minister of Local Government and the Secretary for Local Government, connect the local government sector to other central government agencies, and deliver operational support to local authorities. Partnership Directors work across the programme, leading our engagement and relationships with the local government sector and across central government agencies. They provide leadership across strategic issues and system challenges within the local government sector.

**Mou | About you**

To succeed in this role, you will:

- need to feel comfortable operating in and playing a key leadership role across a wide ranging programme while operating in a high pace environment amidst change and ambiguity.
- be a good thinker, able to operate at a system level to support collective impact on national challenges and outcomes.
- be a well experienced operator with strong professional credibility, able to open doors and be a trusted advisor to executive management and decision makers.
- bring knowledge of infrastructure planning and delivery requirements for local government.
- have a good understanding of the local government environment and council processes and practices.
- have a growth mindset, be prepared to take risks, ask questions and working collaboratively with others to get things right.

Even more importantly, while the work is serious, you will not take yourself too seriously and be prepared to make a joke and have fun while working hard.

This role is Wellington based but will require a significant amount of travel as you build and maintain relationship with local government in a designated region.
