Our newly established Māori Strategy and Performance (MSP) branch has been created to strengthen Te Tari Taiwhenua's capability to build enduring equitable and positive Māori Crown relationships.
The new branch provides greater Māori leadership and resourcing alongside established whole of organisation strategy, governance and performance functions.
Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Reporting to the DCE, you will lead Tiriti negotiations on behalf of Te Tari, ensuring a coordinated approach across branches. You will provide oversight on Te Tari's collective delivery of commitments and obligations in respect of Te Tiriti and will be the kaitiaki of organisational engagement and relationship protocols with iwi and Māori organisations. As a champion for the aspirations of Māori, you will create opportunities for Te Tari to partner with Māori.
Mōu ake | About you
- A comprehensive understanding of strategy and policy development and planning processes and the implications for Māori responsiveness and effectiveness in the Public Service
- A sound understanding of te ao Māori and the ability to provide cultural guidance to the senior leadership team
- Proficiency in te reo Māori with confidence to use on a daily basis
- Demonstrated leadership in delivery of organisational outcomes
- A proven track record of successful strategic leadership and management
- Significant experience in contributing to development of strategic operational planning and priority setting, ideally in a public sector context
- Advanced relationship management skills including managing complex interactions and relationships involving significant community, departmental or Ministerial issues or problem resolution
