**Korero mo te turanga - About the role**

Our Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and evolving our security platforms to ensure they remain effective and resilient in a dynamic threat landscape. As a key member of the IT Risk and Security team this role is positioned to be the front line of our cyber defence, leveraging operational security control systems, threat intelligence, and utilising strong analytical and technical skills to protect our critical technology and information assets.

This role is designed to help shape and develop, guide and help enforce security processes and procedures that mitigate risk and support the ongoing governance and assurance activities of NZ Post's Information Security framework.

**Mou - About you**

To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication, collaboration and prioritisation skills to ensure the highest value pieces of work are clearly identified, championed and prioritised for remediation.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

- Multiple years' experience in Cybersecurity, including multiple years with cloud-based security controls.
- Bachelor's degree in technology related field.
- Current Cloud Security Certification E.g. CCSP, CCSK or Vendor-specific cloud security certifications for either AWS, Azure or both.
- Hands-on experience improving security controls, managing vulnerabilities, and developing incident response plans and playbooks aligned to policy and best practices.
- Incident response experience, including identifying and resolving cyber threats to achieve positive outcomes.
- Self-starter who works effectively with mínimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Collaborative team player.
- Skilled in identifying threat vectors, analysing complex problems, and explaining risks clearly.
- Cybersecurity passion and adaptability: Deep interest in evolving threats and a drive to stay current.
- Technical proficiency and automation focus: Strong technical skills with a keen interest in automation.
