An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Business Advisor within the Identity Services Unit of Immigration New Zealand (INZ).

Reporting to the National Manager Identity the Senior Business Advisor is responsible for leading initiatives and engagement to inform the strategic direction and operations of the Identity Services team within the V&C branch.

The successful applicant will bring their business understanding and risk management experience to work in partnership with the National Manager Identity, Identity Services’ leadership team and wider V&C branch to grow relationships and inform strategic and operational projects across INZ, and with external agencies.

This role is also responsible for leading a range of business advisory services and representing the Identity Services team on key projects and initiatives that work across the wider INZ system.

- Previous experience in Immigration New Zealand, ideally in the field of identity management and/or biometrics
- Excellent relationship management skills
- Political awareness and sensitivity to anticipate areas of potential risk and inform decision making
- Ability to quickly identify ways of thinking about risks and issues and the possible pathway forward
- Experience and knowledge in identity management, identity verification and the use of biometrics in the immigration processing lifecycle
- Ability to focus on both strategic and operational issues
- Experience and knowledge of immigration systems, business requirements, processes, and procedures
- ICT systems and/or technical knowledge and experience would be an advantage
- Ability to communicate ideas and provide insightful feedback, verbally and orally, and to write with clarity and accuracy in both formal and informal contexts
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve, analytical skills and sound judgement
- Proven ability to work on a number of complex issues and projects at one time, with little oversight or direction from a people leader
- Highly organised and self-starting, with strong coordination skills
- Excellent communication, self-management, and interpersonal skills
- Official Information Act and Privacy Act)
- High integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

**Qualifications**:

- Tertiary qualification, or extensive and comparable relevant experience
