You will be rostered across AM, PM and Nights with the choice of 8-hour or 12-hour shifts. Nelson Hospital is a secondary level maternity unit with approximately 900-1,000 births per year. The core, community and LMC midwives work as a team with our Obstetric, Anaesthetic and Paediatric colleagues. The Motueka Maternity Unit is a primary birthing and postnatal care unit with around 40-50 births a year and around 140 postnatal transfers from Nelson. The unit provides highly regarded postnatal care working in partnership with whānau and LMC - s to provide whānau centred care. We can promise that your core midwifery role will be busy and varied - so no two days will be the same. As a midwife you will be able to use all of your clinical, time management and organisational skills and expertise across pregnancy, birthing and postnatal care.
