**Community Midwife - Relief Position**

**Casual**

**12-month fixed term**

A rare and exciting opportunity has presented for a Midwife to join our Community Midwifery Team on a fixed term, casual basis as our current cover is covering a parental leave position.

This position provides cover for permanent members of the Community Midwifery team on an “as and when required” basis based on the need in that fortnight, providing an opportunity for those midwives wishing to further develop their knowledge and experience working in a community environment.

No day is the same and you will need to be adaptable, flexible and confident to cover the caseload of the member of the Community team away that day rather than case loading your own clients.

This role has a strong focus on addressing health inequities and improving health outcomes by providing a wrap around, culturally safe, positive experience for women and whanau and support their strength and ability to overcome obstacles to engaging with maternity care.

Hawke's Bay Maternity is recognised nationally as providing innovative programs to improve maternal and infant health and wellbeing.

We pride ourselves on clinical excellence and we’ll support you to achieve the same. We encourage a workforce that is innovative, eager to learn and enhance their skills, and is passionate about caring for our community.
- Experience in primary and secondary care throughout the pregnancy and postpartum journey
- Good knowledge of referral guidelines and pathways
- A strong equity and quality focus for improving our services for women and whanau and meeting our obligations under Te Tiriti O Waitangi
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with women and families as well as other health professionals
- Adaptable, flexible and resilient personality
- Ability to work as part of a cohesive team and support the team to grow
- Passion for helping woman, whanau and colleagues
- A can-do attitude
- Ability to work efficiently and take ownership of workload
- Ability to learn and support new electronic systems of work
