Senior Planner: River and Land
If you are looking to make a change from another place or discipline, stretch your planning wings or enjoy the flexibility and autonomy of an established yet very relaxed practice, read on.
This firm has been very successful in handling perhaps the more interesting projects. With a posse of accomplished surveyors and planners, they focus in handling resource management for our riverways and land. These are facinating and very rewarding projects designed to help us make the best use of natural resources with the minimum of ebvironmental impact.
The Role:
In this role, your responsibility is to build and understanding of the project aims and requirement, then, using your appreciation of the logistics, constraints, and the relevant Regional Plan, firstly establish the feasibility of the undertaking, then lead the client through the resource consent process.
- Take a project brief and prepare an internal assessment
- Liaise with other professionals, iwi, landowners, contractors and consent parties
- Undertake a project feasibility study to establish returns and limitations.
- Create and deliver reports to client and regional councils
- Provide quality and clear advice throughout
This is a very interactive position and your involvement will often require personal visits to remote (and beautiful) locations, mainly in the NZ South Island but occasionally further afield.
You:
To get on the podium for this role, you do not need to be an experienced planner but you will need to have:
- experience with at least one NZ relevant regional plan
- in depth understanding of the process and practicalities of gravel & material extraction
- an appreciation of geology and river dynamics/open channel hydrology
- a relevant tertiary degree (engineering, environmental plannign or science),
- advanced report writing skills
For a role at this level we will be expecting around 10 years experience in a combination of extraction, rivers, environmental consultancy or similar responsibilities where you are involved in a consent process.
On Offer:
This is perhaps a perfectly balanced firm - the invaluable benefit of many years of success bringing quality clients and opportunities, and yet small enough to offer plenty of professional growth and flexibliity. This role offers a generous package and they are very receptive to partial remote working, work day flexibility and embracing other sectors of work you may have expertise or interest in pursuing.
So, if you are looking to make a step across or up, you can expect plenty of autonomy and opportunity in a friendly, professional modern work environment right in the Christchurch CBD.
