We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic planners at Planner, Intermediate and Senior levels, including Building Consent Plan Checker roles to join our Resource Consents Department, where we process more than 17,000 consents annually.
You will have the opportunity to play a key role in solving the housing crisis in Tāmaki Makaurau, and to work on a variety of development projects including:
- comprehensive residential (including dwellings, terraced houses, and apartments).
- commercial, retail (including town and shopping centres) and industrial.
- urban expansion, regeneration, and heritage.
- sensitive rural and coastal areas.
- nationally and regionally significant infrastructure.
- large urban and rural subdivision.
- high profile events.
- Māori outcomes (including marae and papakāinga) and
- the protection of air, land, and water resources.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**
You will bring with you anywhere from graduate level to seven years+ of planning experience, and a tertiary qualification in urban planning, resource management or in a similar field preferably acknowledged by NZPI or PIA. With a strong working knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 and an awareness of the coming legislative changes, you will have a high level of customer service and collaboration skills with excellent case management, written and verbal communication. Most of all, you will have a desire to be part of Local Government where you can make a difference and help us to obtain good environmental outcomes While we encourage the use of public transport, you will also need to hold a full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence to drive our Council vehicles.
