Due to the nature of our work, occasional night work will be required.
In addition to the above you will lead on:
- Identifying risks and improving safety processes.
- Inspections, including subcontractor inspection and verification requirements.
- Identifying training needs and provide support for training when required.
- Improving safety culture through critical risk and constructive safety conversations.
- Completing investigations and providing trends and learnings that can be shared throughout the Alliance.

We’re looking for someone with:
- A relevant health and safety qualification
- A clean class 1 drivers licence
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety Advisors role.
- Sound understanding of and practical experience of New Zealand health and safety legislation.
- Competent with health and safety auditing.
- A strong ability to establish strong relationships based on trust.
- Experience providing coaching and advice at tier 3 (manager/ people leader) level.
- Strong ability to prioritise and manage workload.
- A team player who engages with people at all levels.
- The ability to work in a fast paced environment where change is constant.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Computer literate
About Wellington Transport Alliance
The Wellington Transport Alliance is a partnership between the New Zealand Transport Agency, Fulton Hogan, and WSP. We are responsible for managing the maintenance and operations programme for state highways and roading networks across the Greater Wellington Region, ensuring high service standards for both the people and infrastructure of the area.
