Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Join the Mental Health and Addiction Workforce team as Senior Advisor and support growth in services. You'll be working with the team to deliver on the transformed approach to mental wellbeing called for in the Government's response to He Ara Oranga. It's an exciting time where investment in new services has been made and you've got a practical opportunity to make a real difference to the whai ora and whānau experience of mental health and addiction.
The Mental Health and Addiction Workforce team have a supportive culture and proactive approach to managing a busy programme of work. The Senior Advisor role will work to increase, grow and upskill the Mental Health and Addiction workforce across the motu. To do this you will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders from Te Whatu Ora District staff, to NGOs, to tertiary and skills institutes to whai ora and lived experience groups.
As part of the work to operationalise the strategic programme, the Senior Advisor will provide advice, reporting and contract management, working across health agencies with providers and stakeholders. This is an opportunity to work in a rewarding and high-profile area of health and make strong connections in the mental health and addictions space more widely. Mental Health and Addiction Workforce is an area with strong political interest and attention, and we're looking for someone who can operate competently in that environment.
Mōu | About you
You will have a background in working with the Mental Health and Addiction workforce, or a real interest in working in this area. You've experienced working in a busy team environment and can manage your workload through prioritisation and strong communication.
Technical writing is one of your core skills, and report-writing and interpreting policy are something that you enjoy and excel at-especially when it comes to clearly communicating the complex. You have got a history of sound Project and Programme Management and can maximise the quality and contributions of individuals to any project. In past roles, you've always maintained solid relationships and shown self-awareness and integrity when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
**This role requires and/or would benefit from the following**:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience
- Experience analysing and interpreting complex issues and information and ability to present this in simple and clear ways to enable effective decision making
- Experience in influencing people and supporting successful programme delivery
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a willingness to learn
