**Te**kōwhiringa | The Opportunity**

Within the Business, the Foreperson directs and controls the activities and operations of a crew or crews on a day-to-day basis, optimising the use of company resources and contributing to the successful completion of Road Maintenance contracts.

**Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills**

You will need At least 3 years’ relevant work experience in the contracting industry as the role will include key result areas including:

- **Operations**:Direct and control activities of crew on a day-to-day basis in accordance with project plans and targets.
- **Customer & Public Relations**:Liaise with client and company representatives as required to ensure work is carried out to the client’s satisfaction and meets company standards.
- **Staff Management**:Assist Contract Manager and Supervisor in the selection, coaching and development of staff.
- **People Development**:Helps the individuals in their team to set clear targets for their area of responsibility and provides support and coaching to achieve these.
- **Safety, Quality & Environmental (SQE) Risk Management**:Monitor operations under your control to ensure compliance with local By-Laws, Government Statutes and Regulations, and with Downer NZ Limited policy in relation to SQE assurance.

**Experience, Educations & Qualifications**:

- At least 3 years’ relevant work experience in the contracting or Road Maintenance industry.
- Formal qualification is desired but can be replaced by suitable work experience.
- Effective communication skills.
