Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Customs Service Full time

**Senior Intelligence Analyst (Senior Customs Officer Grade 2) - NDIB, Wellington**

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career as a senior intelligence analyst, whilst working in an inter-agency environment.

The National Drug Intelligence Bureau (NDIB) is situated within the Fusion Hub in Wellington. The NDIB is a multi-agency intelligence unit comprising of the New Zealand Customs Service, Ministry of Health and New Zealand Police. The NDIB provides strategic intelligence and advice on illicit drugs, potential illicit drugs and precursors, for drug related harm to be reduced through supply control and demand reduction measures.

Key responsibilities include maintaining knowledge and expertise both domestically and internationally, on key drug commodities that are impacting upon New Zealand. Key outputs include preparing assessments, responding to queries, sharing information with key stakeholders and contributing to regular reporting. The NDIB also governs Drug Information and Alerts Aotearoa (the national drug early warning system) and the National Wastewater Testing Programme.

This is a two-year rotational position. After two years, the successful applicant will be rotated into a senior intelligence analyst position within the New Zealand Customs Service Strategic Intelligence team.

You will be part of the wider Intelligence, Investigations and Enforcement group and you will report to the Supervising Customs Officer of the team. You will generally work within regular hours - Monday to Friday. Based in Wellington, the salary range for this role is $78,371 - $98,413. Mid-point or competent for the range is $89,800.

**About you I Ko wai koe**

To be considered for this position you should have:

- Previous experience working within an intelligence analyst role
- Demonstrated understanding of and interest and experience in strategic thinking
- An enquiring and lateral thinking mind
- Demonstrated expertise in producing high quality reporting
- Attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and develop these ideas to implementation
- Ability to achieve and maintain a Top-Secret national security clearance

**Working at Customs I Mahi ki te Mana Ārai o Aotearoa**

Our people get on-the-job training, formal courses and leadership programmes and the chance to move across diverse roles. We foster an inclusive and supportive team environment with vibrant social and cultural groups. We also support flexible working - talk to us about how we can help you achieve your flexible working goals, within our operational requirements. Our people get discounted health insurance, free on-site gyms (in some locations) and three days of service holidays in addition to four weeks of annual leave.

You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level. Already having Top Secret clearance is a benefit, but not a requirement.

Due to the nature of Customs work you must have a clear Police record. Successful applicants are also required to pass a medical assessment and drug test and must hold a full NZ Drivers' license.

If shortlisted, you will be asked to complete online psychometric testing as part of the process.
