About the role

This Senior Intelligence Analyst will use advanced tradecraft across all tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence levels to support national security, especially countering terrorism and violent extremism. The work and subject matter is interesting, nuanced, sensitive, confronting, and critically important to New Zealand's national security. Threat assessment and profiling is a core task. The role is part of a small team but will often work independently, flexibly, with initiative, dealing with ambiguous information and an evolving work situation. This includes reacting to urgent requirements or changes on occasion. Enthusiasm, willingness, and a good work ethic will be invaluable attitudes to apply every day in this role. We are looking for people who are self-motivated, innovative, inquisitive, committed to excellence, resilient, and firmly focussed on enhancing decision-making within NZ Police through the provision of timely, accurate and relevant intelligence.

  • Lead and collaborate on projects and group analysis.
  • Effectively manage competing priorities and demands to maintain quality of work under strict timeframes.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain productive working relationships with internal groups, and external domestic and international entities.
  • Work with limited supervision on complex analytical problems.
  • Consider and champion diversity, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all intelligence outputs.
  • Be resilient in the face of demanding workloads and confronting subject matter, including objectionable material.
  • Provide technical guidance in Intelligence analysis tools and coach junior members of the team to develop their Intelligence tradecraft including regular peer review.
What you'll bring
  • You will be an experienced intelligence analyst.
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking and apply analytical techniques to interpret information and data.

  • Be able to manage competing priorities to deliver organisational priorities.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach to delivering team outputs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with a range of stakeholders to encourage collective effort and shared outcomes.
