**About us**

The Wellington District Intelligence Unit supports New Zealand Police leaders and officers to prevent crime and harm through exceptional policing in Wellington District. Our mahi is used to inform deployment of resources, understand the criminal environment and crime problems, and facilitate evidence-based action and prevention.

We were recently presented with the NZIIP awards for
_Innovation in Intelligence_ and
_Developing Intelligence Practitioners, _and we are looking to recruit Intelligence Analysts/Senior Intelligence Analysts to join our high performing team based in Wellington CBD.

**About these roles**

As a Senior Intelligence Analyst, you will demonstrate professional curiosity and adaptive approaches to using a range of analytic tools and methodologies to provide insight and foresight on a range of complex problems and issues. You will use your advanced critical thinking and team-focussed approach to coach others on best practice intelligence tradecraft, to support team development and foster a positive and productive team culture. Your engagement in your own professional development will be shown through proactively working to grow your knowledge of policing and Intelligence and seeking feedback on your own work.

For both roles, you must be able to manage the nature of the work we undertake, and the organisational challenges faced by Police Intelligence. The environment can be fast paced and as such you need to be adaptable.

**Key Accountabilities (Intelligence Analyst)**
- Proactively identify emerging or escalating trends in crime issues.
- Development of a high-quality written reports/presentations, and provide clear and concise verbal briefings appropriate to a range of audiences.
- Actively and positively contribute to collaborative projects and group analysis.
- Effectively manage competing priorities and demands to maintain quality of work under strict timeframes.
- Develop and maintain a wide range of positive relationships (internal and external).
- Champion diverse world views, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and identifying opportunities to reflect these in Intelligence products.

**Key Accountabilities (Senior intelligence Analyst)**
- Work with limited supervision on complex analytical problems.
- Provide technical guidance in Intelligence analysis tools and coach junior members of the team to develop their Intelligence tradecraft.
- Lead by example with a committed, positive attitude towards teamwork and professional development.

- Able to work to short deadlines.
- Comfortable managing multiple demands from a variety of people.
- Available at short notice and able to work at alternate locations where required.

**Special Requirements**
- New Zealand or Australian citizenship, or a permanent NZ resident
- Successful applicants must reside in Wellington
- Hold the NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis (NZDIA) or equivalent, or be able to complete NZDIA modules early in employment
- Hold a full driver licence or be able to complete early in employment
- Note - a tertiary qualification is not a requirement. However, previous work experience is preferred._
