READY FOR ANYTHING
At IAG, we live and work by our purpose to make your world a safer place. We are motivated by a unique culture that celebrates honesty, creativity, empathy, equality and collaboration. We call it the IAG way, and it means we all share a ‘ready for anything’ mindset that sets the tone for positive actions and positive outcomes. We put heart into everything we do which guides us to create amazing things for our customers, our people and our communities.
As the largest general insurance group in Australia and New Zealand, we own some of the region’s most trusted brands, including AMI, State, NZI, Lantern, Swann and NAC. We are ready for anything.
**The Role**
We are looking for a senior software developer to work within the Mobile team, on our existing Services/BFF layer (Java/Springboot) and our greenfield development on the Digital Platform Experience APIs (NodeJS / AWS).
As part of your role within the technology products and services division, you will make a difference through enabling teams to activate end to end digital experiences for customers, colleagues, and partners, that are more secure, robust and scalable than ever before, and deliver them with lightning speed.
You will be customer focused, results driven and able to work collaboratively with our people, customers, and partners. Ideally you can be Auckland or Sydney based but we focus on work rather than the location so we will be keen to chat if you have all the right skills and experience.
In this role, you will be working on solutions ranging from simple to highly complex. You will also have the opportunity to develop your capabilities and skills so that they can be utilised more broadly within Technology and IAG.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Enhance coding and source code development standards
- Design and develop code that is clean, understandable, maintainable and extensible
- Encourage maintenance of detailed and accurate documentation per all IAG standards
- Key contributor to the project estimation process reviewing and challenging where necessary, estimates for tasks
- Overseeing deployment of software components through non-production environments and where applicable into production and/or hand over to the relevant release team
**Skills & Experience**
- Relevant IT industry experience in API design and hands on development (in particular Java development experience; Spring Boot experience, NodeJS are also desirable)
- Experience in continuous integration pipelines including test automation (continuous delivery experience is advantageous)
- Software design and development techniques.
- Good understanding of structured programming principles (e.g., object-oriented) as applied to software development.
Ready for anything? Let’s talk.
IAG rewards and recognises its people with generous benefits, career development opportunities and real work-life balance. Employees also enjoy up to 50% insurance discounts, flexible work and leave options, various corporate partner discounts and a people-focused culture that celebrates achievements big and small.
