**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
Join the Ngā Mātārae team as our Programme Coordinator and play a key role in supporting the delivery and analysis of the Māori Outcomes portfolio across Auckland Council and Council Controlled Organisations (CCOs). This role provides programme support to ensure the effective implementation of Māori-focused initiatives and work programmes that contribute to the aspirations of Māori across Tāmaki Makaurau.
You’ll engage and work alongside mana whenua, mātāwaka and other Māori communities to ensure their insights are reflected in our planning and delivery. You’ll also work closely with external partners — including other agencies and funders — to support access to the Māori Outcomes Fund.
In addition, you’ll contribute to raising the visibility of Māori Outcomes across the organisation, support the development of strategic advice for council staff, elected members, and executive leaders, and help drive the successful delivery of key Māori initiatives and priorities.
Day-to-day you will:
- Support Ngā Mātārae to analyse a range of insights and data to improve delivery of Māori Outcomes
- Develop information and provide support to governance boards overseeing the Māori Outcomes Fund
- Work closely with Māori Outcomes Leads and project leads across Council and CCOs, as well as with Council’s finance and risk teams
- Collate and analyse progress reporting and prepare regular monthly and quarterly reports for managers and council committees
- Conduct project reviews and analyse portfolio information to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Support the ongoing refinement and operation of the Māori Outcomes Fund, including the development of a three-year rolling investment plan
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
You bring both cultural and technical capability, with experience supporting programme and project delivery in complex settings. You're confident using data and insights to guide strategic decisions and can engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
You will have:
- Experience in programme/project management and governance
- Ability to analyse and present data clearly
- Proven engagement with mana whenua, mātāwaka and Māori communities
- Confidence in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga in professional settings
- Strong relationship-building and problem-solving skills
Understanding of local government processes and working in multi-disciplinary teams will also be advantageous.
**Ō mātou kōrero: About us**
Auckland Council is one of the largest local authorities in the South Pacific, serving more than 1.5 million people. We’re committed to social, cultural, economic and environmental progress, and to building strong partnerships with Māori.
Ngā Mātārae leads Māori outcomes work across the council group — championing initiatives and supporting the delivery of meaningful outcomes for Māori communities in Tāmaki Makaurau.
