The Key Account Manager (KAM) sits within the NZ Animal Health Commercial organisation and reports to the National Sales Manager.
The KAM will be responsible for the overall business relationship between our company’s and the identified key accounts, serving as main point of contact for terms of trade, customer strategy, promotional activity and day to day operational activities.
You will be required to work closely with the national marketing team to understand the overall strategy/resources, adapt and tailor these to develop customer specific strategies and retail branded resources to drive animal health and identification activities and sales. A key component of this role will be a close working relationship with the sales lead(s) and field team to ensure clear alignment of marketing, KAM plan and sales strategy.

**Responsibilities include, however not limited to**:
Primary responsibilities of the Key Account Manager include: achieve/exceed overall sales targets, maximize company revenues within agreed budgets, develop and implement customer specific sales & marketing plans; establish productive business relationships (internal and external) to drive growth of our company’s Animal Health portfolios.
- Achievement of agreed sales budgets for assigned products through a collaborative, key account management approach, effectively utilizing promotional budgets and resources
- Develop and implement Key Account plans to achieve agreed sales targets, regularly revising activity against achievement and ensuring that plans are kept up-to-date
- Develop and execute marketing and sales activities in-line with national marketing and sales strategies
- Proactively identify customer needs, issues and opportunities to grow strategic working relationships with key personnel, customers and clients and clearly position Our company’s product offerings (through the likes of features, benefits and unique selling points) to provide customer focused solutions.
- Extends the customer relationship beyond the main point of contact, eg. Moving beyond category manager to the likes of customer marketing teams, regional and or area managers, customer influencers, technical experts, etc.
- Effectively communicate Key Account plans to internal stakeholder to influence sales and technical support of said plans especially through field team and field activities
- Utilize Technical Advisors to assist in development and delivery of technical education and messaging to Key Accounts and their customers
- Understand and leverage our company’s capabilities to develop solutions and resources that effectively meet customer needs to deliver business results
- Actively seek and implement core partnership projects which advance both our company’s Animal Health’s interests and those of the customer
- Be seen as a strategic resource to customers based on ability to develop innovative, mutually beneficial partnerships and solutions
- Identify opportunities for growth/profitability/product demand based on knowledge of trends and client demands
- Use business case, margin analysis and return on investment calculations for decision making to identify opportunities, set priorities and gain approvals from senior leadership
- Work collaboratively across all our company’s departments; develop and maintain productive internal relationships
- Provide technical and sales training activities to distributors/partners to ensure proper messaging is being transferred to the end user
- Ensure product complaint investigation, pricing queries, compliance issues and follow up requests are executed appropriately and within required timelines
**What You Must Have**
- Tertiary business or science degree highly beneficial
- Prior experience in a pharmaceutical sales role beneficial
- Business to business selling experience essential
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other technologies (e.g I-Pads) essential
- Proven ability to establish strong influential relationships with key stakeholders
- Excellent analytical, planning, organisational and time management skills
- Ability to convey technical information in a manner easily understood
- High level of flexibility and resilience
- Good understanding of farming practices within New Zealand
