**Our Opportunity**:
We have a newly created role, we have an opportunity to join the Mokai geothermal team. In this role as Site Lead you will take ownership of your sites through leading internal stakeholders to maintain health & safety, budgets, maximise availability and enabling Mercury to be the best electrical generator. You'll be a key member of Kawerau leadership group and members of the wider generation Leadership Team, sharing ideas to improve site operations recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities. You will be leading a team of 8 direct reports and influencing 10 indirect reports.
This is a critical role to leading day to day site operations, prioritising work and inspiring our teams toward excellence.
Our Mokai Geothermal Station is based approximately 25 minutes from Taupo and 1 hour from Rotorua.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Lead, develop and mentor a collaborative team (both direct reports and indirect), ensuring the wellbeing of all involved on your sites
- Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and excellence within the site
- Ensure adherence to health, Safety & Wellbeing (particularly in a Major Hazardous / High hazard Facilities) and environmental compliance
- Lead or contribute to comprehensive asset risk assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential risks, ensuring the reliability and safety of site operations
- Operational Management and development of site-based budgeting
- Oversee effective asset management ensuring the units are reliable and available.
- Implement operational strategies that align with the company's objectives.
- Develop and nurture cross functioning team relationships
- Sponsorship and prioritisation of project works
- Develop and monitor operational metrics to assess performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
**We are looking for**:
- Bachelor of Engineering or NZCE Electrical or Mechanical (or equivalent)
- Significant experience in plant operations, process control or maintenance in heavy industry in role such as Site Operations Manager, Site Services Manager and/or Plant Manager
- Experience with leading teams >5years with the ability to inspire, motivate and guide dedicated professionals, embedding a culture of excellence and professional growth.
- Provide strategic and operational advice, and recommendations to all levels of staff.
- Well-developed clear thinker, problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.
- Cultivates a positive culture where people take responsibility and feel valued.
- Solutions focused, able to develop new innovative processes and systems.
- Proficient in maintenance systems and business practices, including budget control.
- Be an outstanding communicator, focused on driving results in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.
- Able to swiftly learn new and unfamiliar systems.
- Experience in successful change management and operational performance improvement.
