**Mo te tunga | About the Role**

The purpose of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) group is to work in partnership with the rest of the organisation to provide digital technology and communications solutions that support excellence in policing and service delivery and enable Police's strategic ambitions.

With a primary hub in Wellington, and a presence throughout the country, we deliver new and enhanced technology solutions directly and through specialist vendor partnerships. We provide expert advice on how technology can be leveraged to support Police's strategies and turn concepts into reality through collaborative development.

The Technical Product Owner (TPO) - Finance is a member of the wider Corporate Products Group, People Finance. This group has five main areas of focus, with responsibility to be divided between two TPOs:

- Finance. Supporting the Finance, Procurement and Asset Management functions
- People. Supporting People and Workforce Management (WFM).

Police intends to modernise its finance, procurement and asset management systems the near future, moving to cloud based solutions; the TPO will have an important part to play in this initiative and will be working closely with the Enterprise Resource Management (ERM) Programme to ensure that outcomes are technically sustainable.

**Key Accountabilities**:
The purpose of the TPO - Finance role is to ensure that the product team delivers and maintains valued solutions by acting as the technical conduit between the supported functions, external commercial partners and the ICT product team.

The core responsibilities of the TPO - Finance role in Police include:

- Working alongside the Product Manager by bringing a deep understanding of technology and product development to stakeholder conversations.
- Technical leadership including: developing and maintaining a product roadmap and backlog, overseeing the development of products from start to finish to ensure they deliver value and meet the customers' needs and priorities, and proactively managing technical debt.
- Day-to-day delivery leadership and management of the product team. They will work with their team to ensure that: requirements and user stories are properly defined; sprint planning and execution is well managed; and feedback and guidance is available to the development team.
- Leading the career development of the team using the Police High Performance Framework (PHPF), training and education to enable people to perform to their best.
- Tracking performance indicators for their products to measure success, including user engagement and customer satisfaction, identifying areas for improvement and making data-driven decisions about future product development and customer engagement.
- Managing the delivery of maintenance/sustainment, break/fix and enhancements, including through engagement of commercial partners.
- Working closely with the ERM Programme to ensure that outcomes are technically sustainable.

- Experience in establishing and then leading and managing teams that may include commercial partners as well as internal staff.
- Hands-on experience of implementing and using Agile methodologies, principles, and practices. Strong planning and organising skills, including use of Agile tools and techniques like a Kanban to ensure that the product backlog is optimised.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills. An ability to build and maintain strong relationships with people at all levels of an organisation.
- Evidence of strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
