Auckland City, New Zealand Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Full time

**Seeking an Occupational Therapist who has a passion for working in mental health**:

- **Rewarding role which ensures Tangata Whaiora have coordinated access to resources and tailored supports required to live their best life**:

- **Provide assessments and care planning that enhance recovery through promoting self-determination, social inclusion, and occupational justice**:

- **Permanent position working full time (40 hours p/w); Monday to Friday**

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We are looking for an occupational therapist to join our Mental Health Needs Assessment Service Coordination team at Te Toka Tumai. We are based at Greenlane Clinical Centre which is right next to Cornwall Park, located in Epsom, Central Auckland.

This role will be perfect for an occupational therapist with community mental health experience; you will ideally have a minimum of two years’ clinical experience; though this is not essential as you will have support, supervision, and opportunities for continued professional development.

As a member of this team, you will complete comprehensive needs assessment of Tangata Whaiora who are receiving care from secondary and tertiary mental health services. Your assessments will be holistic, recognising wellbeing can be measured in terms of health and clinical factors, as well as social determinants and other quality of life outcomes.

You will collaborate in the design of care plans, advocate for whaiora goals, positive risk taking, and you will coordinate with NGO providers to develop solutions which allow Tangata Whaiora to live well and build up natural supports that can be sustainable outside of specialist mental health and addiction services.

To balance out the skill set within the current team we are primarily seeking an occupational therapist, but will consider experienced social workers who are passionate and have the desired qualities.

As this is a community based role, a full and clean driver’s license is required.

**For further details, please refer to the position description **here**

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**

Join a team that is committed to the following principles:

- Whaiora centred
- Recovery oriented
- Equity lens
- Rehabilitative focus
- Socially inclusive

You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and are able to work effectively with multiple stakeholders with a variety of background and experience.

You will ideally have a solid foundation of clinical skills as a mental health professional; a strong desire to learn and a passion for quality mental health care is essential.

Applicants will also have:

- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
- Excellent time management and adaptability
- Excellent organisational skills
