**About the role | Mō te tūnga**:
At the core of this position, are two key elements, to provide exceptional administrative support and to provide research support to Scott Willis MP. Moreover, this position is responsible for ensuring that critical administrative functions related to the smooth running of the member’s Parliamentary life (such as diary management and travel) are actively managed. In addition, the incumbent is also responsible for providing the member with research and briefings on issues of concern to the member. You’ll be relied upon to provide your MP with research and briefings on their particular areas of interest.
Based in the Parliamentary precinct in Wellington, for 40 hours per week, you’ll be working to support the democracy of Aotearoa New Zealand’s Parliament.
**What you will bring to the role | Tō kete**:
We are looking for someone who has a passion for Parliament and has previous experience in executive office administration and expertise in research. If you do not have experience in this area, but you can quickly develop the rest of the skills required, we can provide you with the support, mentorship and training you need to succeed in this role. You will be known for your strong attention to detail, initiative, and ability to quickly come up to speed. Some other elements that you’ll bring to the position are;

- Take accountability for results and processes within research work or projects as directed
- Ability to analyse issues with recognisable patterns and make independent decisions through considering precedents, referenced research or other solutions
**Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa**:
- Ensure the Member knows where they need to be, and when, through the organisation and coordination of the Member’s diary, and ensure the Member is in possession of the required materials for meetings, which may include Select Committee papers and House Box.
- Support the development of policy and information gathering to provide research and advice to the Member and others in the Member’s office(s)
- Ensure the smooth operation of the Member’s role by providing administrative support where required (diary management, travel, and finance support)
- Coordinate administrative activities in the Member’s office including those for meetings, functions and events; including collating invitations, arranging facilities and catering

The pay band for the role starts at $72,100 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an ‘events based’ agreement, with your employment linked to your MP.
