Kahurangi Carter MP is looking for an enthusiastic and professional Executive Support and Researcher to join their team based at the Parliamentary precinct for 40 hours per week. This is a key role supporting an MP with exceptional administrative and research support. You'll be responsible for ensuring that critical administrative functions related to the smooth running of the MP's Parliamentary life (such as diary management and travel) are actively managed, while providing the member with research and briefings on their particular areas of interest.

Working as a core part of the MP's team, you'll step into an environment that is unique, exciting, and rewarding. This position offers real variety and plays a vital role in supporting Aotearoa New Zealand's democracy.

Your research expertise means you can analyse and monitor issues and compile concise briefings ensuring the MP is well briefed in their portfolio areas. Knowledge of or experience in the mental health, children, addiction, and zero waste portfolios would be an advantage.

Ideally you'll have previous experience in executive office administration, but this isn't essential: if you have excellent organisation and research skills, we can provide you with the support, mentorship, and training you need to succeed in this role.

Ngā haepapa | Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of policy and information gathering to provide research and advice to the MP and others in the team
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the MP's role by providing administrative support where required (diary management, travel, and finance support)
  • Coordinate administrative activities in the MP's office including those for meetings, functions, and events; including collating invitations and arranging facilities and catering .

He aha te pai o te mahi ki Te Ratonga Whare Pāremata? | Why work for Parliamentary Service?

  • We offer a range of benefits including 5 weeks' annual leave, an eye and hearing subsidy, and an annual well-being payment.
