- Part-time position with an immediate start.
- Great training, support, and ongoing professional development.
- From $72,100 per annum + 5 weeks’ Annual Leave.

Bring your first-class support and research experience to the heart of Parliament in this diverse role.

**About the role |Mō te tūnga**:
We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and professional Executive Support and Researcher to provide support to a National MP for 30-32 hours per week. The role is based in the Parliamentary Precinct in Wellington. This is a key role supporting an MP with exceptional administrative and research support. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that critical administrative functions related to the smooth running of the MP’s Parliamentary life (such as diary management and travel) are actively managed, while providing the member with research and briefings on their particular areas of interest.

Working as a core part of the MP’s team, you’ll step into an environment that is unique, exciting, and rewarding. This position offers real variety and plays a vital role in supporting Aotearoa New Zealand’s democracy.

**What you will bring to the role | Tō kete**:
You’ll be known for your strong attention to detail, initiative, and ability to quickly come up to speed. Your communication and relationship management skills will help you effectively share information, ideas, and experience with others. You’ll be comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively.

Your research expertise means you can analyse issues with recognisable patterns and make independent decisions through considering precedents, referenced research or other solutions.

Ideally you’ll have previous experience in executive office administration but this isn’t essential: if you have excellent organisation and research skills, we can provide you with the support, mentorship, and training you need to succeed in this role.

**Responsibilities |Ngā haepapa**:

- Ensure the MP knows where they need to be, and when, through the organisation and coordination of their diary, and ensure they have the papers they require.
- Support the development of policy and information gathering to provide research and advice to the MP and others in the team.
- Ensure the smooth operation of the MP’s role by providing administrative support where required (diary management, travel, and finance support).
- Coordinate administrative activities in the MP’s office including those for meetings, functions, and events; including collating invitations and arranging facilities and catering.

**Why work for Parliamentary Service?** **| He aha te pai o te mahi ki Te Ratonga Whare Pāremata?**
- We offer a range of benefits including 5 weeks’ annual leave, an eye and hearing subsidy, and an annual well-being payment.
- You will receive an induction from Parliamentary Service to set you up to succeed, as well as having access to ongoing learning, development, and professional networking opportunities.
- We are proud of He Ao Takitaki (our Te Ao Māori strategy); we offer karakia, waiata, and reo Māori opportunities along with opportunities through other staff networks.
- Our core values are at the heart of how we work: Integrity, Manaakitanga, Accountability, Whanaungatanga, and Empowerment.

As an employee of Parliamentary Service, you will be politically impartial in your role. You’ll understand the political landscape and have a knack for taking everything in your stride. Things are changeable here so an appreciation for the environment and the ability to be calm, proactive, and flexible will stand you in good stead.
