Mō te tūnga | About the role The Government Accountability team, in the Government Services Group, is a key conduit between Ministers, HUD, and the public. The team is responsible for Parliamentary Questions, Select Committee Reviews, Weekly Reporting to Ministers, the Annual Report and internal performance reporting for the Ministry. This position will have a focus on Parliamentary Questions, providing quality assurance, peer support, coaching and technical advice to colleagues along with partnering with key stakeholders within HUD. With Housing being one the Government's key priorities, you'll be coming into a complex environment with a high level of public and political scrutiny. This makes the identification, management, and escalation of risk a core element of the role.

**Job Title**: Senior Advisor Government Services
The salary range for this role is $83,700 - $102,400 +3% Kiwisaver contribution. Ō'wheako, ō pukenga | About you This is an opportunity to be part of a busy team that is involved in the full continuum of the Ministry's government accountability requirements. As a Senior Advisor Government Accountability, you'll have strong intellectual capability to anticipate and meet the needs of the team and will easily be able to navigate ambiguity. The Senior Advisor Government Accountability is responsible for:

- Preparing material to respond to urgent requests for information or data from Ministers' offices
- Managing the Ministry's Annual Report process
- Preparing material for the Ministry's Estimates Examination and Annual Review Select Committee hearings
- Participating collectively across the Government Services team to deliver high-quality advice and results that maximise the contribution the team makes to HUD outcomes and government goals
- Establishing credibility as a trusted advisor and influencer for effective ministerial servicing across the full range of the team's activities and across the wider Ministry
- Contributes to the performance of the team through providing peer review and quality control
- Providing authoritative technical advice and leading programmes of work
- Provide ad-hoc advice and specialist technical advice as required
- Oversee information flow across the Ministry to coordinate effort, identify risks, ensure mitigation steps are put in place, and advise as appropriate
- Supporting the Government Services group with other ad hoc duties as required.

**Ideally, you will have**:

- Relevant experience in a Machinery of Government role, including preparing and delivering Parliamentary Questions, Select Committee documents, and reports to Ministers
- An ability to see the bigger picture and make connections across work areas
- Strong relationship building skills, being able to establish connections with stakeholders within short periods of time and develop trust and credibility with others
- The ability to obtain quality information to input into your work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail
- The ability to present complex messages in a clear, jargon-free way that is tailored to the needs of the audience
- A 'can do' attitude with a drive to develop and learn, who takes ownership of their work to deliver the best
- Experience (and a high degree of comfort) dealing with ambiguity.
