The Ngāi Tahu Māori Health Research Unit (NTMHRU) was established in 1996 and is located within the Office of the Division of Health Sciences at the University of Otago.

The NTMHRU is co-led by Associate Professor Emma Wyeth and Professor Sue Crengle. We undertake a wide variety of research. We also teach a range of hauora Māori topics and paper, including hauora Māori public health papers hosted in the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine.

We value the development and mentoring of new and emergent researchers.

**_Te mahi/The role_**

To work with collaborators on a Ministry of Health funded project:
**What can we learn from factors underpinning the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination programme and pandemic response in different rural communities? A mixed methods study.**

In this project lessons from COVID-19 vaccination programmes will be used to find out ‘what works best’ to achieve high rates of immunisation in rural communities, especially for rural Māori and Pacific peoples.

The Assistant Research Fellow (ARF) will undertake tasks in conjunction with the research team as appropriate. These tasks will include, but are not limited to:

- Assisting in the preparation of study documentation, community engagement, recruitment of healthcare provider participants, data collection procedures and data analysis across four rural communities (TBC).
