People & Capability covers a wide range of functions, focused on keeping our communities safe and changing lives. In 2021 the People and Capability group went through a significant transformation process which represented an uplift in the investment in our people and provided greater opportunities for staff, whilst challenging us to consider different ways of working.
Reporting into our Director People Operations, the People Hub Manager is responsible for overseeing our People Operations Centre (The People Hub). Through the Hub our employees' HR needs are met via self-service options (through our online portal āwhina) or our phone-based support. This role partners with others across the broader People Operations Leadership Team as well as other Regional and National P & C teams to ensure the seamless and consistent delivery of HR services to our employees.
With support from your team leads, you will motivate and empower 40+ staff who live in various locations across the motu. You will work closely with your peers in payroll and employee experience as we strive to continuously improve our service to the business.
**In this busy and fast paced role, a typical day will see you**:
- Providing strong leadership and direction to the team within the People Hub to maintain a culture of operational and service excellence
- Leading and managing a team of Team Leads to ensure their teams are focused on the employee experience with a key focus on ‘moments that matter'
- Leading the effort of effective communication to all customers, regularly ensuring the team are delivering the highest quality employee experience
- Making complex decisions based on escalations from the People Hub based on sound principles, policies and business guidance to support the customer and keep the Department compliant
**As the People Hub Manager you will also be responsible for**:
- Ensuring that workflows are set up and delivering efficient and effective service to the business, with a focus on resilience, efficiency, accuracy, continuous improvement, and consistency of services
- Leading a virtual team across multiple locations, with regular engagements and approaches to communication that will require different focus than a team located together
- Setting key performance indicators and service levels for the People Hub and consistently review to ensure that the Hub is delivering against a set of clearly articulated outcomes
- Leading a culture of service while ensuring that leadership across the business have the right support at the right time
- Clearly articulate the current state issues and opportunities backed by customer feedback and shortened feedback loop on our various services

Having a solid background in HR will allow you to provide technical HR guidance and support as required but more importantly, experience as a people leader at a senior level will be key to success as in this role it is all about the people in our team and how we can best set them up for success.
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid-point for this role is $151,581 with the full range covering 85% - 120%. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
