Mō te tūranga | About the roleThe Procurement Business Partner is a pivotal role within the Fire and Emergency procurement team. They hold the strategic and commercial relationship with our key asset classes of ICT; Property; Fleet; Equipment; Corporate and Uniform and are the conduit for ensuring all planning, sourcing and management of procurement activity is undertaken well.Ngā kawenga matua | Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring that procurement activity undertaken within their Business Group is carried out in accordance with Fire and Emergency policy and procedures.
- Provision of procurement advice on procurement and contractual issues.
- Provision of commercial advice relevant to supply markets, including established panel frameworks across Government.
- Lead the development and maintenance of detailed category strategies for the procurement categories within the Business Group.
- Support Business Units to ensure contract monitoring measures and systems are in place, suppliers meet agreed performance standard and that poor performance is addressed appropriately.
- The coordination and planning of centralised sourcing.
- Assists with the ongoing development of procurement policies, processes and procedures in conjunction with the Manager Procurement Capability and Practice.
- Prepares papers to support Business Group procurement activities.
- Provide advice and support to the Business Group on contract management and regular contract performance monitoring.
- Ensuring comprehensive contract management and reporting systems are in place and followed for contracts.
- Support the negotiation and concluding of national and regional contracts for your business group in conjunction with the Manager Sourcing.
- Actively involved in identifying and influencing changes that impact Fire and Emergency.

Ngā whakaritenga matua | Key Requirements
- Expertise in the procurement life cycle for the procurement of goods and services.
- Knowledge and practical experience in the provision of procurement advice to stakeholders.
- Understanding of risk management in a procurement context e.g. Health & Safety.
- Experience in analysing issues and evaluating options.
- Expertise in all aspects of contract and supplier management.
- A sound understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.
- Advanced communication and influencing skills.
- Advanced experience in managing diverse internal and external relationships.
- Study towards CIPS qualification.
