The Asset Development team is central to delivering the GEN35 strategy by originating, developing and delivering new solar, wind and BESS assets. A fast-growing team with high ambitions, you'll be joining the newly established Strategy & Commercial team within the Asset Development team**.**

**The role**:
In this newly created role, you'll play a key part in supporting the development and growth of our partnerships. You'll help identify new opportunities, assist in negotiations, and contribute to establishing partnerships. You'll also stay informed on international regulatory trends in renewable energy and help support our regulatory efforts within Genesis and with external partners.

You'll work closely with the Asset Development and Governmental Affairs teams, contributing to projects that influence the regulatory environment. Additionally, you'll build relationships both inside and outside the company, helping to support our strategy and planning to achieve the goals of Gen35. Other key responsibilities will include:

- Build and manage partnerships and joint ventures in renewable energy.
- Assist in negotiations for partnership documents during different development stages, working with both internal teams and external advisors.
- Support asset development and partnership strategies, and review current strategies alongside Genesis teams.
- Coordinate regulatory processes, contribute to market development efforts, and assist with asset development projects.
- Create board papers, presentations, and business cases to back equity investments in renewable energy.
- Stay informed on new energy and technology trends, assess their impact on Genesis, and help shape responses.
- Assist with transactions like mergers and acquisitions, project financing, and contract negotiations.

**About you**:
Ideally, you will have a sound understanding of the renewable energy sector and energy markets, including areas like business development, regulation, and energy management. Experience with trading, procurement, and M&A would be beneficial, both in New Zealand and internationally. Key skills we're looking for include:

- Sound experience in renewable energy or business development, preferably with a renewable energy company, utility, consulting firm, or law firm in New Zealand or overseas.
- A tertiary qualification in law, finance, economics, energy policy, or a related field. A graduate degree or CFA would be a plus.
- Some experience contributing to strategy development and helping lead workshops or projects to successful outcomes.
- Familiarity with business development, regulation, trading, and energy management in renewable energy markets.
- A proactive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well in a team.
