Join the Christchurch City Council Libraries team to support their commitment to provide unrestricted access to the diverse, community stories of Christchurch/Canterbury. The platform that provides this access of our online digital heritage repository, Canterbury Stories; with over 77,000 records that are freely available to access online.

This internship project will support and specifically assist with the digitisation and preservation of identified heritage items in preparation for adding them into Canterbury Stories.

**What is a typical day as an Active Communities Intern**
- Become part of the Digital Content team and join our professional environment.
- Identifying heritage material for digitisation.
- Digitising photographs using the appropriate model of scanner for the task.
- Listing and capturing the descriptive metadata for each photograph into spreadsheet template.
- _ _Refiling photographs in their original files.
- _**What will I expect to achieve?**
- Digitisation skills: complete scanning of each identified batch of photographs - learning the digitisation process and software.
- Description data: complete data entry to describe the photographs in preparation for adding to Canterbury Stories - learning the metadata sheet and how to enter specific required data.
- Checking: review scans and data entry to ensure they are accurate and consistent, receiving, and assimilating feedback from supervisor.
- Batch completion: complete each batch of photographs and then move on to the next one to complete all the required files.
