Our aspiration is for Rotorua to be a puna of play for children and whanau. Play is a critical aspect of child and youth development. Play offers children and their whanau opportunities to engage with the world around them.

This is a 2 year fixed term contract that will co-ordinate a strategic approach to play across the district.

The Rotorua Lakes Council Play Advocate role focuses on:

- Increasing opportunities and access for whanau and their tamariki to play in a wide variety of ways. Connection to place, past and present enables optimal experiences.
- Opportunities that are equitable and exclusive and reflect the rich cultural heritage of Rotorua and relationships with hapori Maori, kaitiaki, hapu and/or iwi.
- Critical to the success of this role is being able to influence the systems that impact access and the ability for tamariki, rangatahi and their whanau to enjoy playful moments regularly in their local communities and/or at home.
- The strategic intent of this role is to systematically embed a play philosophy across council planning and decision making.
