Downer New Zealand is looking for a motivated **Project Engineer**to join our thriving **Christchurch-based team**, supporting the successful delivery of critical infrastructure works across the region. This **full-time, on-site**role reports to the **Project Manager**and plays a key part in ensuring major capital and minor renewal projects are executed to the highest safety, quality, and performance standards.

You’ll join a collaborative and technically strong group working across multi-disciplinary utilities projects. Your work will support communities and clients through the delivery of essential water and civil infrastructure services, contributing directly to the growth and resilience of Aotearoa’s networks.

**What You’ll Do**
- Provide end-to-end engineering support including investigations, setting out, temporary works, and procurement
- Coordinate construction methodologies and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Monitor and maintain construction programmes, identifying critical path activities
- Lead or support project documentation, ITPs, site diaries, and stakeholder communications
- Support junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement and delivery excellence

**What We’re Looking For**

We’re seeking a proactive engineer who enjoys variety, values quality outcomes, and thrives in a fast-paced site-based environment.

You’ll ideally bring:

- A tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline
- At least 5 years' experience delivering capital works or infrastructure projects
- Experience in construction methodologies, pipelaying, QA, commissioning, and temporary works
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond to technical challenges on site
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
