Project Structure Ltd is seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our dedicated, small team in Christchurch. About Project Structure Ltd

We are a successful, Christchurch-based structural engineering consultancy with an aim to produce quality, clear drawings and documents that simplify the construction process for everyone involved.

Our team currently consists of 8 members, including four experienced Chartered Professional Engineers (CPEng). This will help guarantee direct mentorship and technical excellence.

We pride ourselves on a collaborative, flexible work environment. Being a small team allows us to be agile and offers great opportunities to head out for team lunches. PSL ensure that our staff regularly get on-site to see their designs realized first-hand.

The Opportunity

This full-time role is perfect for an engineer with 2+ years of experience. You will play a key role in the design, analysis, and delivery of structural solutions, ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Conducting structural design and analysis, primarily for bespoke architectural homes and two-to-three storey residential units.
  • Undertaking assessments and design repairs for earthquake-damaged buildings.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with relevant New Zealand building codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Helping to prepare comprehensive engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborating closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams to ensure smooth implementation of engineering solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: A Washington Accord degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of demonstrated experience as a Structural Engineer, preferably within the New Zealand consulting industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in structural analysis software, such as Spacegass.
  • Knowledge: Strong familiarity with New Zealand building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Personal Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities, combined with effective communication skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Professional Status: Working towards or possessing CPEng status is preferred, but not essential, as we will support your journey.
  • Start Date: We are ideally looking for a candidate to start around February 2026.
