Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Te Papa stands proud as an iconic national museum housing the treasures of the nation and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors. It is also a meeting place, a place for lifelong learning, and a place that inspires a sense of wonder and connection. Te Papa is an amazing organisation to work for and we have bold aspirations for the future.
Te Papa's leaders and kaimahi are ably supported by the People, Safety & Culture (PSC) team who work in partnership with all directorates to develop initiatives and resolve business issues in relation to Te Papa's people, culture and HR practices. The range of tō tīma, our teams, is diverse from those people who are renowned in their fields, to those managing specialist art and historical collections, to creative and interactive exhibition building, to event management and front of house mahi. It takes collaborative and innovative frameworks, products and services to support all of this important mahi on behalf of the people of Aotearoa.
In supporting Te Papa's vision to become a Tiriti-based museum, PSC will provide a stronger focus on building organisation culture, leadership capability, cultural competence and organisational wellbeing. The People & Culture Business Partner is a key new position designed specifically to support this focus from within the People Advisory and Systems tīma. Our People & Culture Advisors are the first point of contact for leaders and kaimahi when they have any people-related queries or concerns. As an experienced practitioner, you will report to the Manager People Advisory and Systems and work closely with your advisory colleagues.
You will facilitate conversations across the directorates to identify business needs in the people context, and contribute to uplifting people-centred leadership capability through your coaching and advice. You will share the tools and techniques that you have in your kete with your colleagues to develop our collective business partnering skills. There will also be opportunities to support the tīma with complex employment matters and change projects.
Biculturalism is a founding philosophy and practice of Te Papa designed to explore the contribution of Māori language and culture to the life, culture and activities of the museum in small and large ways. Within PSC, it is important for us to bring our knowledge of Te Tiriti and Te Ao Māori into the delivery of people practices, leadership and ways of working.
We are looking for your expertise, experience and confidence in:

- Strategic HR planning, leadership development, and organisational change
- Coaching and facilitation
- Generalist HR practice, including strengths in ER/IR
- Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori.

We're also open to flexible working arrangements and will consider employment options up to 40 hours per week.
Applications close on Friday 23 August 2024.
Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain the legal right to work in New Zealand. Pre-employment checks will be undertaken, including criminal conviction history, reference checking and management assessment testing, prior to Te Papa confirming an offer of employment.
